Melaque is a more homely and perhaps more typical Mexican
town, with dusty cobblestone streets, abounding with
restaurants and souvenir shops but with a totally
different atmosphere to Barra de Navidad. It is actually
a string of three small towns, Obregon, San Patricio &
Melaque. There are very many small hotels or bungalows
that are often rented by the entire season by winter
visitors from the north. The town shops are generally a
little more down to earth and geared for the long term
tourist and townspeople who mostly cook and fend for
themselves. There are several very well known
restaurants here which make it an ideal place to come
for the day, have a good breakfast, sunbathe on the
beautiful sands, swim in a relatively calm ocean & then
go out for a great dinner
